Nonlinear Optical Properties of Semiconductor-Doped Glasses

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We review recent work on the linear and nonlinear optical properties of semiconductor-doped glasses: (1) the origin and speed of the large Kerr-type nonlinearity found therein, and (2) reported discrepancies/anomalies in the optical characteristics and in the picosecond/subpicosecond dynamics of band-edge excitation.
