Abstract

Studies on multi repeater transmission systems using optical amplifiers have been widely conducted by using various modulation schemes such as Intensity modulation, Constant envelop modulation and Solitons. At present, the product of bit rates and transmission distance have reached to 5.5Tera bits km for single carrier systems(1) and 4.5Tera bits for WDM systems(2). Recent experimental results encourage early application to practical multi-repeater transmission in near future.
