Abstract
Low-loss semiconductor waveguides are essential to realize complex photonic integrated circuits. The optimization of the material characteristics can reduce the absorption losses to levels well under the scattering losses. It has been experimentally proved that the scattering losses are strongly dependent on the waveguide structure.1 The availability of a simulation tool can be very useful to optimize waveguides design for minimum losses.
