Abstract
Because AgGaS2 has a large transparent window in the infrared and a large nonlinear coefficient, optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) based on AgGaS2 have the potential of generating wavelengths up to 12 μm at moderate peak pumping intensities.1,2 In this conference, we present some characteristics of the first operation of a singly resonant, AgGaS2 OPO, synchronously pumped by a conventional continuous-wave (cw) actively mode-locked Nd:YAG laser.
