High-repetition-rate femtosecond OPO using RbTiOAsO4

Abstract

The successful demonstrations of optical parametric oscillation in KTiOPO4,1,2 KTiOAsO4,3 and CsTiOAsO44 have yielded promising results with the generation of high average powers, short pulses, and broad tunability. Another crystal in this class, RbTiOAsO4 (RTA), is a good candidate for a OPO crystal because it has a large nonlinearity and a transparency range extending out to 5 μm. With a 800 nm Ti:sapphire pump, the RTA OPO can tune from approximately .96 μn to 5 μm as shown in Fig. 1.
