Abstract

A non-destructive optical method for determining the soluble solids content of fresh whole papayas (Carica papaya L.) “Kapoho Solo” was investigated. The method, based upon near infrared spectrophotometric techniques, could predict the soluble solids content of papayas (r2 = 0.84, SEC = 1.1°Brix, SEP = 1.1°Brix).
