Abstract
Recently, there has been considerable interest in the development of new laser sources in the VUV. Ionic molecular species have been proposed as viable laser candidates.1,2 Molecular systems in contrast to atomic systems exhibit lower gain cross sections due to the broader emission bandwidths. Such systems can thus offer tunability in the VUV as well as a large-energy storage capacity.
