Abstract

The design of polarizers is similar to a band-passed filter with deturned spacers which are advantages to extending the band of polarization seperation and to reducing transmission ripple for the p-po1arisation component in the polarized band [1]. The real optical thicknesses of high and low index layers are integral number of quaterwaves of a specific wavelength, easing the production of polarizers. Topical film design is as follows: where n and m refer to the number of quarterwaves of the low index layer. The experimental transmittance of the polarizers for p-po1arized radiation has reached 97-98% and for s-polarized radiation 0.1-0.5%.
