All-optical belt conveyor scale based on a pair of FBG weighing units

Abstract

In response to the poor performance of electric belt scale under EMI occasions, an all-optical belt scale system is developed. The weighing system consists of a pair of FBG weighing units and a secondary instrument. The weighing system obtains instantaneous load information by the FBG sensing units, and obtains the belt conveying velocity by using time delay estimation algorithm based on these two FBG sensing units, finally outputs cumulative weighting data by integrating the instantaneous load. Therefore, in belt conveying site, alloptical weighting detection is realized. 40CrNiMo elastomers make the repeatability error of FBG weighing unit within ±0.125%. This weighing system is applied in coal gasification production line, and the error results of 3-time tests are all less than 0.3%.
