Abstract

Various phase-conjugate mirrors based on four-wave mixing in photorefractive crystals have been proposed and demonstrated recently. A double phase-conjugate mirror (DPCM), which through a transmission grating mechanism phase conjugates two input beams simultaneously impinging on opposite sides of a photorefractive crystal BSO is shown. We report on the successful operation of the DPCM and analyze its properties theoretically. Uses of the device in image processing are demonstrated.
