Abstract

Among the different geometries of photorefractive phase conjugate mirrors, the double phase conjugate mirror (DPCM) has a remarkable feature that it can be recorded in a crystal by mutually incoherent laser beams. It is very convenient for practical applications allowing to design simple optical interferometric schemes that use two independent lasers, Light diffraction from the DPCM creates phase conjugate waves of both pump beams independently on the complexity of the wavefronts. A DPCM property to transform a speckle beam into a plane wave has been recently proposed for applications in fiber-optic sensors and in heterodyne detection of ultrasonic signals.
