18-dB Fiber to Fiber Gain in Packaged Semiconductor Laser Amplifiers

Abstract

Packaged semiconductor laser amplifier with 18-dB fiber to fiber gain is firstly demonstrated. Internal gain is estimated to be 28-dB, by the precise measurement of coupling efficiency using TE and TM mode gain difference for various pumping currents.
