Multi-dimensional EDFA Gain Spectrum Optimization for Increasing WDM System Capacity

Abstract

A multi-dimensional EDFA gain spectrum optimization scheme based on the penalty method with gradient descent is proposed to increase the capacity of a WDM system. A gain of 5.47% on capacity is achieved in simulations.
