Abstract

Over the past year, the 1580 nm-band WDM transmission experiments using gain-shifted EDFA (GS-EDFA : 1580-nm-band EDFA) have achived the results which confirm that the performance is almost comparable with that obtained with the conventional 1550 nm-band systems under the same fiber dispersion [1][2].
