Abstract
We have used ultrashort optical pulses to investigate two-photon absorption (TPA), anisotropic transient energy transfer, and induced defect state absorption in BaTiO3. Data are taken as a function of pump–probe delay, pump fluence, and crystal orientation. Fitting the data with a rate equation model allowed us to extract a TPA coefficient, free carrier absorption (FCA) cross sections, and secondary trap densities.
