Abstract
BaTiO3 has favourable photorefractive properties [1] for applications in fast nonlinear optics such as image processing or self-pumped phase conjugation. Desirable is the optimization of the dielectric response time which is determined by the charge transport mechanisms. Only little is known about the centers involved in the photorefractive effect of BaTiO3. In this contribution we present measurements of photovoltaic effect, photo-conductivity, light-induced absorption and two-beam coupling. The results are consistent with a charge transport model based on the assumption of deep and shallow traps [2].
