Abstract

In this paper we apply the beam-propagation method (BPM) based on the method of lines1 (MoL) to the three-dimensional analysis of longitudinal-varying waveguide structures by using a two-step propagation algorithm.2 Significant features of the MoL BPM are the inclusion of an inhomogeneous basic medium into the first algorithm step and the use of absorbing boundary conditions.
