Abstract
Recently semiconductor lasers with distributed feedback have been successfully operated under dc bias and are becoming more and more practical. Because of their integration capability as well as frequency and mode selectivity, they are expected to find wide application as light sources in various optical systems. In this paper, we review the development of distributed feedback semiconductor lasers and discuss their application to integrated optics.
