Abstract
The effect of impurity oxide on the luminescent property of yttrium oxide activated by Eu3+ was reported by Fuller1). In this report it was found that lanthanum oxide had no influence on the luminescent property of EU3+-activated yttrium oxide phosphor when 0.067m/o lanthanum oxide was added. Meanwhile the solid solution between Y2O3 and La2O3 is found to be stable till about 20 mol% of La2O3 between 700 and 1400°C.2) We found that the addition of La2O3 to Eu3+-activated Y2O3 made the intensity of luminescence under 2537Å stronger.
