Abstract
The Y2O3:Nd3+ nanophosphors with an average size of about 22nm were synthesized for different Nd3+ concentrations by thermal decomposition of yttrium alginate gels at 500oC. A strong luminescence corresponding to the 4F3/2→4I9/2, 4F3/2→4I11/2 and 4F3/2→4I13/2 transitions of Nd3+ was observed at room temperature. The dependence of the integrated luminescence intensities on the Nd3+ concentration and structural properties were studied.
