Abstract

Studies of the large spectral broadened stimulated Rayleigh scattering in CS2 have been recently interested because its inherent connection to the molecular dynamics and its implicd applications [1-2]. However, the origins of the giant-frequency broadening according to the experiment investigated have been explained differently. We have recently studied the roles of self-focusing and phase modulation on the generation of the stimulated scattering [3] and we reported here our observation on the spatial and the spectral evolutions of the scattering, which explores clearly the link between stimulated Rayleigh scattering and Kerr effects. This results could address the origins of the frequency broadening.
