Abstract

We isolate the vibrational free-induction decay of a homogeneous molecular sub-ensemble using ultrafast infrared vibrational scattering-scanning near-field microscopy. The observed long-lived few picosecond vibrational coherences, intramolecular coherence transfer, and spatial variations in vibrational modes indicate non-ergodic behavior.
