Abstract

We experiment on free space WDM system with PRCM (Photorefractive Connection Module). PRCM works as optical amplifier and distributor without the need for electricity conversion in free space.[1] This optical device can pick up a desired channel by wavelength switching of control beams, and will enable constructions of an all-optical free space network and interconnection system, and so on. This technique exponentially improves the performance of the WDM system because SDM (Space Divided Multiplexing) signals can be connected with PRCM directly.
