Abstract

Raman shifters based on stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) effect in the compressed gases are widely used as non-linear devices for laser wavelength conversion [1,2]. Raman shifters based on steady-state SRS have been rather good investigated both experimentally and theoretically. SRS method becomes complicated and difficult to treat when the pump pulse has a picosecond or subpicosecond duration, because in this case transient regime of SRS is realized. So far there have been a few experimental and theoretical works, which deal with the details about energy, spectral, temporal and spatial characteristics of picosecond Raman shifters.
