Abstract
Er3+-doped cry stals, glasses and fibers exhibit fluorescence and laser activity in a broad spectral range from infrared down to the ultraviolet owing to the complex energy level schemes of Er3+-ions. In recent years extensive investigations on Er3+-doped fluorides [1-2] and oxides [3] were carried out to find out appropriate laser materials for 3 µm and visible emissions for diverse applications. Spectral properties and laser behavior of new Er3+-doped host materials are especially interesting for comparison.
