Abstract
Continuous wave optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) are of interest for the generation of widely tunable coherent radiation in the infrared. Of advantage are noncritically phasematched, pump-resonant OPOs based on the nonlinear material KTP These devices have been pumped by a Ti:sapphire laser [1] and - because of their low threshold power - even with diode lasers [2]. In addition, dye lasers may be considered as suitable pump sources for such OPOs. This is because they provide tunable narrowband radiation at shorter wavelengths with output powers of up to 2W in nearly diffraction limited beams.
