Abstract

Tunable single frequency Er-doped fibre lasers have applications in telecommunications, remote sensing, and high resolution spectroscopy. Several different approaches have been taken to achieve this goal using fibre Fabry-Pérot étalons1 or intracore Bragg reflectors.2 With fibre Bragg gratings, for example, tunability is achieved by physically altering the grating periodicity.2
