Abstract

Single mode erbium-doped fiber lasers are of great interest for telecommunications because of their narrow linewidth (<1 MHz) and wide tunability (40 nm). Moreover, a single mode laser locked to an atomic resonance serves as an absolute frequency reference for future WDM application.
