Abstract

Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL), which is defined as the maximum change in the transmission power of an optica) component/ device as the input state of polarization (SOP) is varied over all possible polarization states, has become a very important parameter in long-haul, high bit-rate optical transmission systems.
