Selective laser Ionization photodetector

Abstract

Resonance ionization spectroscopy is a very sensitive atomic detection technique. In extreme cases single atom detection can be achieved through nearly 100% ionization of atoms by lasers in combination with ion counting techniques. This paper proposes a new type of photodetector for spectroscopy based on a selective laser ionization technique called a selective laser ionization photo-detector (SLIP).
