All-optically reversing the modal dispersion of optical fibers. Light from a scene in the distance is entering a multimode optical fiber. Propagation through the fiber scrambles the image into a speckle pattern. The light then passes through a cascade of inverse-designed static diffractive optical elements that reverse this scrambling process, passively reconstructing any image transmitted through the fiber.
