Vector wave analysis of an electromagnetic high-order Bessel vortex beam of fractional type α: erratum

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The theoretical magnitude cross-sectional profiles for the electric and magnetic field components of a high-order Bessel vortex beam of fractional type α presented in Figs. 1 and 2 in [Opt. Lett. 36, 606 (2011)] are amended. Corrected computational plots that should replace the earlier ones are provided herein.

In the Letter in question [1], numerical errors have occurred in the computations of the theoretical magnitude cross-sectional profiles for the electric and magnetic field components of a high-order Bessel vortex beam of fractional type α, displayed in Figs. 1 and 2. The corrected computational plots that should replace Figs. 1 and 2 in [1] are presented herein. The other published plots in Fig. 3 of [1] are correct and do not require any adjustment.

Theoretical magnitude cross-sectional profiles for the electric (a) and magnetic (b) field components along the axes x, y, z (represented along each column) of an EM HOBVB-Fα for α=5 and k/kr=2.3662. When α becomes fractional (=5.5), the electric (c) and magnetic (d) field components exhibit specific patterns in which the symmetry is broken.

The new corrected plots do not alter the discussions and conclusions presented in [1].
