Abstract
This paper describes a polarization heterodyne interferometer that uses polarizing components similar to a Michelson interferometer and presents measurements of the phase shift caused by varying the azimuthal angle of the polarizer, as well as a study of the interference of two orthogonal elliptically polarized light beams. The visibility of the interference fringes as a function of the relative polarization state of the interfering beams is measured and compared with the theoretical results.
