Abstract

Some analytical expressions are derived for the elastic fluorescence spectrum of a two-level atom in a bichromatic field whose two modes have equal intensities and have equal but opposite detunings from the resonance frequency of the two-level system. The approximations are shown to be in excellent agreement with numerical results that were presented recently in this journal by Agarwal et al. [ J. Opt. Soc. Am. B 8, 1163 ( 1991)].
