Abstract

A numerical model describing the operation of a frequency-compensating phase-conjugate ring resonator using Brillouin-enhanced four-wave mixing has been developed and gives excellent agreement with experiment. Depletion of the pumping radiation because of rapid buildup in intensity of the intracavity radiation is identified as the principal mechanism reponsible for the termination of oscillation.
