Abstract

The scope of scattering theory was expanded such that a novel polychromatic partially coherent radially polarized twisted beam was, for the first time to our knowledge, introduced to investigate the scattering upon a deterministic medium. Analytical expressions were derived, and spectral changes were numerically demonstrated. Results showed that the vector scattering fields would present much more abundant features than the scalar scattering fields. For instance, seen along the incident direction ($\theta = {0}$), the vector scattered spectrum would present a slight blueshift compared with the incident spectrum in the case of the polychromatic partially coherent radially polarized twisted beam (a kind of vector beam) scattered from a deterministic medium; however, the scalar scattered spectrum would demonstrate a significant blueshift in the case of scalar beam scattered from a deterministic medium. Moreover, for a vector incidence, with increasing correlation the central frequency of the scattered spectrum would remain unchanged; however, for a scalar incidence, the central frequency of the scattered spectrum gets higher with increasing correlation. Results obtained here would further enrich the research content of the weak scattering of the vector light beam and provide theoretical support for obtaining the structure information of the scattering media.
