Frequency-insensitive transmission and reflection coefficients of multilayer media

Abstract

The transmission and reflection coefficients of multilayer media are investigated by using an equivalent-transmission-line method. By properly choosing the characteristic impedances, we find that an equal-length, multiple-section transmission line can pass a step-function signal with little distortion. The multisection transmission line is then converted into the appropriate multilayer media. The results show that such a multilayer configuration can have frequency-insensitive transmission and reflection coefficients.
