This year's China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE)—the world's largest optoelectronics industry event—will feature a pavilion dedicated to innovation in the field of photonics, the organizers announced last week.
The first CIOE Photonics Innovation Pavilion is expected to connect suppliers and buyers, while highlighting technology innovation and emerging industries. It will also facilitate the transformation of high-tech achievements and create a platform for industry-academia-research collaboration, the Expo claimed.
CIOE said that it has worked closely with leading national optoelectronic organizations to launch the first photonics innovation pavilion as well as the first professional biophotonics exhibition platform in China.
The pavilion will showcase a wide range of technologies including biophotonics, medical imaging, sensing and detection, optoelectronics in healthcare, emerging display technology, optoelectronic displays and modules, 3D printing, AR/VR, wearable products, intelligent medical/elderly care, and semiconductor IC technology.
Partners include Wuhan Industrial Institute for Optoelectronics, Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, Biomedical Photonics Committee of the Chinese Optical Society, and five institutes of optics and fine mechanics, as well as a number of major colleges and universities.
Various activities will be offered onsite, such as face-to-face meetings between industry and investment & financing teams, VIP buyer sourcing meetings, and optoelectronics industry recruitment. The organizers hope that the pavilion activities will enhance the transformation and commercialization of innovative photonics technologies and projects.
Announcing the Photonics Innovation Pavilion, CIOE said that optoelectronics/photonics technology has rapidly advanced in terms of innovation and application over the last several years, covering applications in communications, consumer electronics, displays, defense & security technology, and measurement and remote sensing.
Market research firm TMR has predicted that the global market for photonics technology will reach a value of $765 billion by 2020.
CIOE takes place at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Shenzhen, China, on September 6-9, 2016.
