Abstract

Photolysis of octopus rhodopsin at 8 °C was studied by picosecond time-resolved spectroscopy. Both hypsorhodopsin and bathorhodopsin were formed from photorhodopsin, which was a primary photoproduct in the present time resolution (36 ps). The primary photoprocess of octopus rhodopsin is described as follows.
