Abstract

While the bandwidth of quantum-optical states (single-photons or squeezed-light) can easily reach many THz, the major quantum detection – homodyne-measurement – is limited to <1GHz. Exploiting parametric amplification, we demonstrate direct optical homodyne of effectively unlimited bandwidth.
