Realization of a transparent and negative dispersive medium

Abstract

A high sensitive new spectroscopic method was developed to study optical properties of an atomic beam. It was possible to measure simultaneously both absorption and phase shift. We used calcium and the transition, at 423 nm, which can be taken as a two level system in a simplified picture.
