Abstract
It is now well known that the cubic nonlinearity is enhanced in the vicinity of a two-photon resonance (Ref. 1 and references therein) making such material attractive for nonlinear optics. Nevertheless, the contribution of any resonance to the susceptibility tensor implies that it fluctuates notably between neighboring frequencies. In such materials the propagation of a finite pulse is more complex since it is composed of several frequencies evolving differently, and this leads to new phenomena.
