Abstract
Optical guiding manifests itself In the Columbia tree-electron laser (λ = 1.8–1.9 mm, j = 1–2 kA/ cm2, aw = ⅓, γ=2.5) in three experimental tests: the observation of spatial ring-down (mode interference) after electron-beam termination1; the effect on sideband location2; and enhancement of the filling factor and gain. The experiment uses an overmoded 17-mm diam waveguide which contains the 4-mm diam electron beam.
