Abstract
Nd3+ doped lead borotellurite glasses with the chemical composition 10La2O3-30PbO-40B2O3-(20-x)TeO2, (x=0, 0.5, 1, 2 mol% of Nd2O3) have been prepared by melt quench method. Their optical and structural behaviour has been studied and reported. FTIR spectral studies show distinct vibrations of borate and tellurite. Optical absorption spectra show ten prominent absorption peaks all are originating from ground state of Nd3+ ions o different exited states. Among which, the role of hypersensitive transition (at 584nm) on rigidity of the samples have been discussed. Physical parameters like refractive index and density of these glasses have been calculated.
