Sol-gel fabrication of active SiO2-ZnO glass-ceramic planar waveguides on silica-on-silicon substrates

Abstract

Fabrication of low-loss(1.8±0.2 dB/cm) SiO2-ZnO planar waveguides by sol-gel dip-coating process, and optical and spectroscopic characterizations using m-line and photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy are presented. Fabry-Perot fringes observed in PL spectra will be exploited for photonic applications.
