Abstract
The presently most widely used methods for detecting and obtaining quantitative measurements of air pollutants require fixed monitoring stations using wet chemical methods with inherently long integration times. The rapidly maturing laser-electrooptical techniques for remote sensing of the atmosphere are a promising answer to the need for sensitive, instantaneous detection methods with the capability to measure atmospheric gaseous pollutants over large areas [1].
