Single mode couplers through end-coatings on optical fibers

Abstract

For some years, the society "Alliance Technique Industrielle" and the "Laboratoire d'Optique des Surfaces et des Couches Minces" have developed jointly passive components for optoelectronics. It mainly concerns multi-demultiplexers and couplers. The original feature and the interest of the developed systems result from the fact that: - the coatings used to obtain selective optical properties (transmission versus wavelength) are deposited directly on the ends of the fibers. - after coating, the fibers are directly fitted together without any additional optical part.
