A Post-Equalization Technique for PDL Compensation in Coherent Optical Systems

Abstract

A practical post-equalization technique is proposed to compensate the loss due to polarization gain imbalance in an optical channel. The proposed scheme is implemented after legacy adaptive channel equalization and shown to provide significant performance gains.
