Experimental Model of EDFA Spectral Hole Burning for WDM Transmissions Systems

Abstract

We propose an empirical model to characterize the Spectral Hole Burning (SHB) of a chain of 200 EDFA in WDM transmission systems. Then we test it with 300 random input pre-emphases obtaining an average of root-mean-square error down to 0.5 dB.
