Abstract
Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) is the technology used to take full advantage of the large transmission bandwidth of optical fibers near the 1.55 µm loss minimum, where Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFAs) operate. Four-Wave Mixing (FWM) interactions among WDM channels and interaction between channels and ASE noise is one of the effects limiting the transmission capacity of these systems.
